Policies

Studio Policies

When enrolling for lessons, the student/parent will be asked annually to read the studio Policies & Procedures and sign/date the document. By signing, you agree to respect and abide by the studio’s current policies as long as the student is taking lessons with the instructor. If a new version of the policies is issued, the instructor will provide a copy with the changes highlighted.

Yearly Schedule

http://www.freemagebank.com/downloads/piano-keys/The Fall/Spring semesters are based on the 9-month school calendar, September through May.  The tuition rates are determined based on a calendar of 32 weekly lessons. The fall semester has 13 lessons and the spring semester has 19 lessons. Most studio breaks align with the school districts in our area.  Minor holidays are not observed and lessons will occur. When students enroll, they are reserving their place in the studio for the entire school year.  Please use this link to access the yearly CALENDAR here.

Summer Lessons will be available to students who want to continue lessons throughout the summer months.  The times will be the same window of time as during the school year, late afternoon to early evening times.  If you set up a lesson time and find you cannot keep the lesson time, please call to give a 24-hour notice of cancellation.  That will allow me to give other students a call to find out if they can adjust their times to cluster the lessons all in a row.

Tuition, Fees and Payment

A 30-minute private lesson occurs weekly during the school year.  Yearly tuition is $960 for 32 lessons/$30 per lesson during the 9 month school year. Tuition is divided into equal monthly installments, $107 per student/Month, due the first lesson of each month.

A one time yearly materials fee of $30 will be added to the first tuition payment.

Please make payments with checks only to Terri Kasen.  An email reminder will be sent out via email before the 1st of each month.  Forgot your payment? Missed the first lesson of the month?

Please send payment by mail to:

Tuition does not include the cost of music.   Students should expect to spend approximately $50 per year on repertoire.  Separate invoices will be issued through email for music and materials as needed.

There will not be monthly billing for SUMMER LESSONS.  The lesson fee  will be a “pay when you come” arrangement.  Please make checks payable to Terri Kasen

Weekly Schedule

Try to choose a lesson time in which you feel confident that you will not have any other conflicts.  Please understand that the tuition you pay reserves an exclusive weekly time in my schedule for your child. Dance classes and sports teams do not offer reimbursements if you cannot attend a rehearsal or game. Unlike a doctor or a hairdresser, I cannot resell that time nor can I create extra teaching time in which to give lessons.  A student who does not attend a lesson will simply miss the benefit of that lesson.  Students are expected to attend all scheduled lessons per each fall and spring semester.  All parents receive an attendance contract to sign upon enrollment each fall.

Illness, Family Emergency

  • Students who are ill SHOULD NOT attend lessons.  If you are too sick to attend school, you are too sick to attend your lesson. Please notify Terri by 12 pm if you cannot attend.
  • Students are allowed to reschedule one lesson per semester in the event of illness or family emergency.  Rescheduled lessons for illness or family emergency may not be “carried over” from one semester to another.  If a rescheduled lesson is missed, it will not be rescheduled again or refunded.  Rescheduled lessons are not for students who miss lessons due to play dates, games, non-emergency appointments or family vacations (Please see Swap List.)

Inclement Weather/Teacher Cancellation

Should the need arise to cancel lessons due to bad weather; the lessons will be rescheduled.  As an option, the lesson may be a Facetime lesson.

If the teacher must cancel, lessons will be rescheduled.

Discontinuing Lessons

Every student comes to the point of discontinuing lessons. Ideally, this decision is made thoughtfully with plenty of discussion between the teacher, parent, and student so that lessons can cease with a positive sense of closure.  For this reason, the teacher asks for one month’s written notice prior to discontinuing lessons.  At the discretion of the teacher, students may be dismissed at any time if they have unpaid tuition, an excess amount of absences/unprepared lessons, or if they show a lack of interest.

Media Policy

During private/group lessons and performances, the teacher reserves the right to use video recording or take photographs of students for use in lesson demonstration, advertising materials, and studio-owned websites. Photos taken by the teacher or that are shared with the teacher by other parents or students become the property of the studio and can be used at the discretion of the teacher in regards to the studio. The studio follows online safety rules in this matter.
